Louie is 7 generations of my breeding program. I
do heart clearances not only on
the dogs I breed but require it
in my companion contracts as
well. I have never had as so
much as an innocent murmur but
after 29 years in the breed, I
got an SAS puppy. It
seems most breeders I have
talked to all have had at least
1 or 2 SAS puppies in their
breeding programs. Not everyone
talks about it so it is
difficult to track some of the
more prevalent lines as
carriers. The comment was made
to me, if you're in
rottweilers, you're in SAS. Louie
was sold as a co-owned show
dog. He had no murmur at 8
weeks old. He developed a
murmur at 12 weeks. He was
evaluated by Dr. Nancy Morris
at Mass Vet Cardiology.
His
report is here for review.
Louie was returned to me on his
5 month birthday. The fear of a
dog dropping dead in front of
the new owners was overwhelming
for them. So, that's what the
internet says, anyway. He will
drop dead right in front of
you! I am going to
make Louie's page a documentary
of his life and how an SAS dog
progresses as he grows. I have
no idea how long he will live.
I can tell you his quality of
life is fantastic and he is on
no meds. The research shows
there is no evidence of being
on meds changes the condition
or life expectancy of a dog
with SAS. I will post
progress, reports and
incidences as they happen.
Louie currently lives with his
Maternal Grandmother,
Wllslands
Tannery V Kimmark, "Tanner"
who is Heart cleared with a
Doppler echo.
